What are the camp’s goals and philosophy?
The goal of CampSHE is to offer a safe space for friendship and fun, as well as provide an expressive outlet for girls to explore themselves, their abilities and their dreams. We believe in the great empowerment that comes from women of all ages supporting and learning from each other. We aim to pass this empowerment to our younger “sisters” by assisting girls in discovering their own inner resources, opening their imaginations, and learning to rely on themselves, as they recognize their creative abilities.

Where is the camp located?
CampSHE is centrally located on St. Edward’s University’s Campus. The campus provides lush green spaces, indoor facilities, a pool, and a taste of University living. We are proud to be located on a college campus in hopes to inspire our young leaders.

What is the schedule like? Is it a structured program or one that emphasizes free-choice?
CampSHE provides a range of activities. We have set times during the day for free-choice, we also have scheduled times for different planned (yet interactive and fun) activities designed by our Head Counselors.
What kind of training does the staff have?
CampSHE is instructed by a team of women educators experienced in working with and for girls. Our two Head Counselors are certified teachers and all of our staff has unique experience working with clubs and organizations for girls and women. Additionally, camp counselors are Red Cross Certified to administer first aid and CPR. Additionally, all staff have sucessfully completed required background checks.

What happens if my daughter is injured at camp?
Your daughter's Medical Release form authorizes Red Cross certified CampSHE counselors to administer first aid. In the event of an emergency, your daughter may be transported to a medical facility or hospital where a qualified physician can provide necessary emergency medical care. In such case, your emergency contact listed in your medical release will be contacted immediately. |
My daughter takes medication. Who administers the medication?
In your registration packet you may provide detailed instructions for all medication. All medication including prescription and over-the-counter drugs must be administered by the Head Counselor.
Will my daughter play outside?
Yes, we offer a variety of outside activities. We will not play outside in inclement weather, instead we will utilize St. Edwards indoor recreational facilities. We recommend bringing outdoor sun protection labeled with your daughter's name.
What happens if my daughter misses a day?
CampSHE builds on prior camp experiences such as team building. Your daughter's daily participation will be essential for group bonding. We recommend your daughter not miss camp time. We hope you take advantage of the valuable time you have paid for.
May I visit my daughter during camp?
We recommend lunch time as a great visiting time. Our camp is built around group trust and communication. Some girls may feel uncomfortable having outside visitors during scheduled activities. We want to provide our campers with time they can express themselves in front of other girls they have built trust with. If you need to make an exception to visit your daughter, we ask you respect the privacy of time for girl talk.
What discipline policies does your camp enforce?
We do not expect serious problems at CampSHE due to our community atmosphere. We do expect that there might be tiffs and have a designated time called “Sister Circle” where girls may express their concerns with others as well as other topics. If issues persist or are extreme, talking one-on-one will be our first response followed by a cool off time, if necessary. Disciplinary issues will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We support self-correction, learning and growth and will follow actions to support each of our campers. We will relay all discipline issues to parents as they occur and will work in partnership with families to develop effective solutions.

- Deodorant, or other feminine products
